Wish

A centralized method to identify blog-comments; with both dates and times by the blog.

The long voyage

Let's say someone has a big blog, with multiple pages. To find out if there is a comment, have to search through all the blog entries in Blogger.

It would be nice if there was a single page in blogger to figure out which blog-entry in the entire blog have comments and "new comments since last visit".

Summary Screen

If you go to the "edit posts" page in blogger, you can see all the blog-summaries. It would be nice if ... there was a toggle switch to go to a similar listing of blog-comments.

It would be nice if the comments were on a single page so that bloggers could quickly find which comments have been added.

Mud's Tests "Blogger Comment Summary" Requirements

  • One image: Ability to quickly see in a single snap-shot those blog-entries that have a blog-comment

  • Status: A single screen that had "new comments" since last log-in; and a method to say "I have read all the new comments".

  • Ordering: Rank ordered by date, or topic, or blog-commenter, or most number of comments, or by blog-name [the user decides]

  • Confirm: Ability to check all comments 'as of today' as read

  • Changes: Ability to "on next visit" see which new comments have been added since "the last visit"

  • Linking: Ability to directly link from the summary-comment-page to the individual blog URL-URI, and/or the individual comment within the blog

  • Comment Dates

Also, in the individual comments, it would be nice if there was a date-time, so that the blogger could figure out "when someone made a comment." Right now, all we can see are the times posted, and have no way of knowing what date it was made.

This is important if there is a series of comments and responses over various blogs. Namely, it gets difficult to figure out which blog-comments were posted in which order; and some comments may have actually been corrected and updated based on new information, but they may actually appear in a blog that was previously written.

If someone is trying to figure out "what was the logic train" and "which information was based on what comment", one method is to look at the time-sequence.

If a blog-comment can be laid out sequentially, we might be able to figure out better what the disconnects are in the discussion, what appears to not sink in, or whether new approaches need to be taken.

In short, it would help with "figuring out which was first" if the blog comment had dates by them, not just times.
